The Riverdale Park Tree Committee with the support of the Mayor and Council are happy to announce our pilot program to plant trees on residential property. We are searching for grant money to allow us to begin this project in the Spring 2001.

Tree Picture This joint effort would allow residents to purchase shade trees at a very minimal cost. For $15.00 (retail value approximately $130.00) residents will choose from a provided list of native species, a 1 1/2" caliper tree in a 15-gallon pot. Residents will be given planting instructions, sign a liability waiver to care for this wonderful tree planted on the front or side lot of their house, and receive a recognition certificate for your contribution in the reforestation effort in our Town.

We will have volunteers available to assist any elderly or disabled persons that want to participate in this great opportunity. To begin the process we ask that you contact your councilperson and express your interest. They will then contact the Tree Committee and the process will begin.

We are very excited to offer this to all of the residents in Riverdale Park and hope that you will get involved immediately. Let's work together to make Riverdale Park a green community, reduce surface temperatures, improve the air quality and provide habitat for wild life.

Patricia Gladding is a member of the Tree Committee.
