Following is a summary of council actions taken at the August 2 regular and August 5 special legislative sessions. Absences, abstentions and opposing votes are noted.

Regular Legislative Session
August 2

(Councilmembers Gross and Romero absent)

  1. Appointment of Cecilia Salvador as Ward 1 member of Recreation Board.
  2. Approval of six-foot fence at 4810 Queensbury Road (Ward 1).
  3. Approval of six-foot fence at 5312 Patterson Road (Ward 2).
  4. Approval of set-back variances request at 5017 Tuckerman Street (Ward 2).
  5. Approval of installation of resident parking on town land on 50th Avenue (Ward 3).
  6. Approval of establishment of volunteer committee to study feasibility of community center.

Special Legislative Session

August 5 (Councilmembers Gross and Romero absent)

1. Approval of amendment to town code to reflect town name change in all ordinances to take effect immediately.

Mark Your Calendar Riverdale Park Day October 2

On Saturday, October 2, the Recreation Board has arranged a day of celebration for the residents of Riverdale Park. From noon to 5:00 p.m. the grounds of the mansion (4811 Riverdale Road) will offer live music, food and gift vendors, information tables, a clown, games for children, a motorized train and pony rides.

There is no charge for the entertainment and children's games.

Town organizations or for-profit vendors who wish to participate may arrange for space by calling the town office for an application (301)927-6381.
