The trail is best accessed in the Riverdale Community Recreation Center Park or where it crosses Riverdale Road or Decatur Street. The Northeast Branch Trail joins the just-finished Paint Branch Bike Trail at its north end at Lake Artemesia. At the south end the Northeast splits into the short southbound Anacostia River Trail and the extensive Northwest Branch Trail to the west.
