Town Administrator Patrick Prangley received special honors in June for completion of the Academy for Excellence in Local Government program run by the Maryland Institute for Governmental Service. He was among four county local government officials to receive the honor this year, the other three included our County Councilman Tom Hendershot of New Carrollton. Awardees were required to complete 12 separate courses over two years. The objectives of the coursework are to increase understanding of local government, to promote high ethical standards in public service, to provide an information base for more informed policymaking, to improve local officials' ability to govern effectively and to improve educational opportunities for local officials. Graduates of this program improve local government management skills and are more prepared to tackle the upcoming challenges facing small and medium-sized governments. Congratulations. We look forward to reaping the benefits of your labors. |
