(A Resolution to make improvements in the delivery of public works service in town, to set fees for specialty services, and for other purposes. Introduced by CM Rebecca Feldberg.)

WHEREAS, the Town of Riverdale Park continues to improve the services provided by the Public Works Department; and

WHEREAS, the Director of the Public Works Department proposes changes in collection of garbage, bulk trash, metals and yard waste in order to improve efficiency and to save money for town residents;

WHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Riverdale Park when referring to garbage, bulk trash and yard waste collection schedules, the collection of such shall be done as follows: The Town shall be divided into two areas. Area A shall be defined as all properties south of the middle of the road on Route 410 and all areas west of the CSX railroad. Area B shall be all areas of town, not in Area A, specifically, all areas north of the middle of the road on Route 410, excluding those areas west of the CSX railroad.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Area A will have garbage collection on Monday and Thursday, yard waste collection on Monday and bulk trash and metal collection on Thursday. Area B will have garbage collection on Tuesday and Friday, yard waste collection on Tuesday and bulk trash and metal collection on Friday.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the following fees shall be established for pick-up and disposal of specialty items:

Tires $ 2.50
Dehumidifiers $ 5.00
Air Conditioner $15.00
Refrigerator/freezer $25.00

All seniors shall receive a twenty percent (20%) discount on these fees for specialty services.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that limits on bulk trash are hereby set, and any amounts over the limit shall be subject to additional user fees. The limit on any single placement of bulk trash shall be three cubic yards of bulk trash on any given bulk trash day. Three cubic yards is defined as volume that does not exceed three (3) foot in height, by three (3) foot in width, by nine (9) foot in length. For any single placement that exceeds three cubic yards, the following user fees shall be imposed:

Between 3 and 4 cubic yards $25.00
Between 4 and 5 cubic yards $65.00
Over 5 cubic yards - $125.00

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that these changes shall be effective as of May 1, 2002, and that the Department of Public Works shall establish procedures and regulations to accomplish the objectives of this resolution.
