The Riverdale Park Police Department is proud to present the third in a series of ongoing articles that will allow members of the community to become better acquainted with the members of their police department.

Patrol squad "Charlie" includes Sgt. Stephen Clites, PFC Marcus Jones, and PFC Thomas Ferreira.

Sgt. Stephen Clites, 28, originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was hired by the Riverdale Park Police Department in February of 1996. Sgt. Clites is a Firearms instructor and a certified Field Training Officer. Sgt. Clites also serves as the First Vice President of the Riverdale Park Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 121. In December 2000, Sgt. Clites was honored with the Thomas R. Evans Award, presented by the Riverdale Park F.O.P. Sgt. Clites plans to continue to succeed and excel at Riverdale Park and plans to own a bar or grill after enjoying an early retirement.

PFC Marcus Jones, 35, from Owing, began his career at Riverdale Park in February of 1997. PFC Jones briefly left Riverdale Park to take a position with the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, but returned after six months. PFC Jones serves as the Sergeant at Arms for the Riverdale Park Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 121. In the future he would like to rise through the ranks, attend college, and travel the country.

PFC Thomas Ferreira, 31, from Langley Park, served as a police officer with the Pocomoke City Police Department before joining the Riverdale Park Police Department in 1997. PFC Ferreira speaks fluent Spanish and is a member of the Riverdale Park Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 121. PFC Ferreira is a long-serving member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department, where he serves as a Lieutenant and has received several awards for service.


Police Community Forum

The Riverdale Park Police Department will host a community forum on November 6, 2001, at 7:30 p.m. The forum will begin at the Town Hall and will then move to the Police Department, where tours of the facility will be offered to those attending. Everyone is encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to get to know the members of the Riverdale Park Police Department.
