By Mayor Michael Herman

The Prince George's County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) is in the final phase of implementing the Transit Master Plan (TMP) for Prince George's County. One of the recommendations successfully advanced by our town government was to have the local service, commonly known as "The Bus", serving the residential sections of Riverdale Park. The goal is to provide user friendly service in these smaller buses on shorter routes to better serve residents, particularly our seniors and those with disabilities.

DPWT is seeking input from local residents and officials on the location of these local routes. Resident participation is essential if we are to address all or most of the transportation needs in our town. As a result DPWT and the Town will jointly host a public hearing on the local bus system and routes at our next regular council session on Monday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall. Interested residents should come and allow your voices to help guide sound public policy. Remember, without your voice, your government cannot be sure which service routes will best serve you. Please attend this important hearing.
