Parents should check all treats to ensure that they are in sealed packages. Costumes should fit properly so that children don't trip and fall. Masks should be worn only if the child can see clearly. Try to avoid masks and use face paint or make-up instead. Reflective costumes and a flashlight are good ideas for trick or treating after dark so motorists can see the children. If you are offering treats on Halloween, please turn on your porch light or display a jack-o-lantern. Remind your children that vandalism is not what Halloween is about. The Riverdale Park Police Department will be on increased patrol to protect the safety of citizens and property.
