How You Can Help Riverdale Park July/August 2003 |
|
By Ray Badders, Councilmember, Ward 3
Hi Neighbors -- By the time you read this, our town budget will be finalized and enacted. During this budget process, I've been reminded of President Kennedy's statement: "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
Change a few words and this call to action applies to Riverdale Park. The amount of money that has historically come into our town budget from the State of Maryland has been drastically cut back. We are forced into a position of doing more with less.
This is where JFK's statement applies to our lives. Ask what you can do for our town. Be involved. Serve on the Veterans Monument Committee. Visit the seniors at Crescent Cities. Plant a tree. Cut the grass of your elderly neighbor. Paint their house. Volunteer at Riverdale Elementary School. Teach English. Adopt-a-road. Pick up trash at the river. Find out which birds eat mosquitoes and build houses for them. Help the town save money on trash fees by recycling.
Ask not what Riverdale Park can do for you; ask what you can do for Riverdale Park.
