Patrick Timmons The Riverdale Park Police Department sponsored its first ever National Night Out/Open House on Wednesday, August 6, 2003, and it was a huge success. Over a hundred citizens interacted with many of the police department employees throughout the evening. Activities included tours of the police facility, children's face painting and ProjectIdentification, as well as displays and demonstrations that highlighted many aspects of police work. Without a doubt the biggest hit of the evening was the breaking of several pinatas that were graciously donated by El Superstore on Kenilworth Avenue. The Riverdale Park Police Department looks forward tomaking the National Night Out/Open House an annual event.
