By Cynthia Blaschke

I want to thank all of the Ward 2 residents for their support. I look forward to working with you over the next two years and finding creative solutions to the many issues that will arise during this time. To keep a close eye on issues affecting the ward, I will propose dividing Ward 2 into various neighborhoods, appoint neighborhood captains and schedule regular meetings to discuss unique concerns of those areas. However, I also hope any resident will feel free to contact me either by phone or email at cynthiablaschke@aol.com.

Numerous traffic concerns were brought to my attention during the campaign. I have had contact with the town's Traffic Study Committee to determine how a traffic count at various locations could be done to study the suitability for some traffic control devices for ingress and egress off Kenilworth Avenue and Good Luck Road. Also being considered is signage to slow traffic at these and other locations. I urge concerned residents to attend the committee's meeting on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall.

As we all know, the current and proposed improvements on Kenilworth Avenue and Riverdale Road have all affected the congestion we are experiencing in these areas. I am working with the mayor and council to minimize the effects on the residents of Ward 2. I am also working toward crafting solutions on the 54th Avenue extension between Quintana and Quesada to find the most suitable way to connect these roads without moving problems from one neighborhood to another. As plans become finalized on outstanding issues, a meeting will be scheduled with the affected residents.
