By Anne Marie Larson

On June 11, the Town of Riverdale Park purchased the now vacant and dilapidated buildings located in the Town Center. The buildings were purchased for about $270,000. Last year, the town council established a citizen advisory committee to study the redevelopment of the Town Center buildings. The committee presented its report to the mayor and council in April. This report will provide the basis for examining the many redevelopment options. The first step is to hire a structural engineer to inspect the buildings to determine their suitability for redevelopment. That process should begin in early July.

The advisory committee will meet Wednesday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall to discuss these redevelopment options and brief the new mayor and council on the committee's report. Interested residents are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Anne Marie Larson, 301-277-3625.
