Free Medical Coverage Available to Working Families |
|
Thousands of Prince George's County children and pregnant women without health insurance may now receive free medical coverage through two health care programs: The Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP) provides medical, dental, and vision care for children up to the age of 19 and for pregnant women of any age. Benefits are provided through the Health Choice program. Once approved, an enrollment packet will be sent by mail and you may select a physician and a MCO in your area. You may be eligible if your family income is at or below: $16,700 for one person, $22,500 for a family of two or a single pregnant woman, $28,300 for a family of three, and $34,100 for a family of four. Call Healthline at 1-888-561-4090 for an application and more information. Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) also provides medical care to children under the age of 18 through public/private partnerships. Children without health insurance, whose families' incomes are under a percentage of the federal poverty level ($41,000 for a family of four), and who are not eligible for MCHP, may apply. For an application and more information call Catholic Charities at 301-568-9529, ext. 19.
