[An Ordinance to amend section 64-18 of the Ordinance Code of the Town of Riverdale Park to impound vehicles within the jurisdiction with two or more parking violations that have been outstanding for greater than thirty days.]

WHEREAS, the Town of Riverdale Park enforces vehicular parking regulations within the town boundaries; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Riverdale Park currently has over $17,000 in outstanding parking fines from individuals that have received multiple parking violations; and

WHEREAS, these violators have failed to remit payment for outstanding parking fines within the jurisdiction; and

WHEREAS, the Riverdale Park Police Department has submitted draft legislation to the Legislative Committee and the Town Council for consideration of impounding vehicles within the jurisdiction with two or more parking violations that have been outstanding for greater than thirty days.

NOW WHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Chapter 64-18 of the Ordinance Code of Riverdale Park is amended as follows:

§ 64-18 (Payment of fines; penalty for late payment) is amended by adding the following subsection (c) with the words:

"(c) If a vehicle is observed in Town and the vehicle has two or more parking violations that are outstanding for more than thirty (30) days, the vehicle may be impounded at the discretion of the officer. The vehicle will not be released until all fines and fees have been paid."
