The Riverdale Park Police Department enjoys a close relationship with the community that it serves, however, citizens still may not know every member of their police department on a personal basis.

In an effort to help the citizens of Riverdale Park become better acquainted with the members of their Police Department, a series of articles will be published, featuring biographical data on officers and civilian employees of the department. These articles will allow citizens to learn what duties members of their police department perform on a daily basis.

Colonel Thomas R. Evans, 53, from Friendship, Maryland, has been the Chief of Police at Riverdale Park since September 1995. Chief Evans came to Riverdale Park after serving twenty-six and one half years with the Prince George's County Police Department, retiring as a Major. Chief Evans also served in the United States Marine Corp.

Chief Evans is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Maryland Chiefs of Police, the Maryland Municipal League Police Executive Committee and currently serves as President of the Police Chief's Association of Prince George's County.

Lieutenant E. Thomas Parker, 44, originally from Roanoke, Virginia, is a twenty-year member of the Riverdale Park Police Department and currently serves as the Patrol Commander. Lt. Parker has received training on both the supervisory and administrative levels. Lt. Parker looks forward to serving the citizens of Riverdale Park for many years to come.

Administrative Sergeant Christopher Clites, 31, originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, is a seven-year member of the Riverdale Park Police Department. Sgt. Clites supervises the Criminal Investigations Division, the Community Policing Section as well as the Communications Section of the police department. Sgt. Clites also directly supervises the Code Enforcement section of the police department. Sgt. Clites has been the president of the Riverdale Park Police Department Fraternal Order of Police for three years.

Paul Paczek, Director, Informational Services, 30, originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, is a six year member of the Riverdale Park Police Department. Mr. Paczek's duties include supervising Automated Enforcement, False Alarm Reduction, Records and the collection of fines from parking citations. Mr. Paczek also serves as the technical support person and oversees all aspects of computer networking and troubleshooting for the police department.

Patti Jo Ortman, 23, from St. Charles, began her service as dispatcher in November of 2000. Ms. Ortman enjoys baking and is currently working towards a degree in Criminal Justice.

Sgt. Patrick Timmons is a police officer with the Riverdale Park Police Department.
